A Fox

Collected by Frederick W. Waugh from the Innu (Montagnais-Naskapi) people of Quebec, Canada. This figure represents the common Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes fulva) that inhabits the subarctic forests in which the Innu hunt.

Step 5 - 1 passes over 5f and under 5n; carrying 5n on its back 1 bends toward the center of the figure and returns through the hooked 1 loop, which slips off in the process.

After returing to the near side of the figure with 5n, 1 passes away below all strings, then 1 picks up the lower transverse string (a continuation of 2n), and draws this string through the new 1 loop, which likewise slips off.

See-saw hands until all finger loops are small and tight.
