The Cutting Up of the Whale
(Barrow)

1.   Opening A.

2.  1, under 2 loop, picks up 5n and returns under 2 loop (fig. 68a).

3.  3, over 2 loop, picks up 1f (fig. 68b - step A).  Release 1 loop (fig. 68b - step B).

4.  1, after entering first the 2 loop and then the 3 loop, removes those loops. Release 5 loop but don't extend.

5.  The released 5 loop hangs down on the near side of the figure. 2 bends toward you, over the 1 loops, and picks up the string of the hanging loop that is on its side of the loop. Return 2 to position (fig. 68c).

6. 5 passes proximally through both 2 loops and hooks down 2n through the loops (fig. 68d).

7. Index Twist, picking up the distal 1n TV string (fig. 68e -step A). Release 1 loops (fig. 68e - step B). You have fig. 69f, The Whale Carcass.

8. From the L palmar string two strings run to the middle of the figure.  Insert L1 away from you between those two strings and hook down  the L palmar string to the  palm (fig. 68f - step A).  Release L5 loop (fig. 68f - step B) and extend carefully. This is fig. 68g, The Moon, which rises while the men are cutting up the whale carcass.

9.  Proximally insert R1 into the R2 loop, just left of the moon (fig. 68g - step A). Release the R2 loop (fig. 68g - steps B) and extend R1 to the right dissolving the knot (the moon).

10.  Proximally transfer L1 loop to L5 (fig. 68g - steps C and D). With the palm of L1, take up from the right side the lower right diagonal of the central rhombus and then proximally insert L1 into L2 loop (fig. 68h - step A). Release L2 loop on to L1 and Navaho L1 loops. Release R5 loop (fig. 68h - step B) and hold R1 loop in all fingers of the right hand. Extend to get fig. 68i, The Dog that Became Sleepy and Went Home

11. Release RH loop, then pick up with RH the lower TV string between the "dog's legs" and draw it out. This is fig. 69j, The Master Following His Dog Home.

12. Again drop RH loop, and take hold of the lower transverse string between L5 and the master's leg, and draw it out. This is fig. 68k, The Rope That The Master Hung Up When He Reached Home.
