| The Brown Bear Cub (Cape Prince of Wales, Inland Alaska, and Mackenzie Delta) 1. Opening A. 2. Exchange index loops, passing left loop over right.
3. Distally transfer L2 loop to L1 (fig. 52a), then proximally transfer L5 loop to
L1(fig. 52b). Keep loops well separated on L1.
4. Hook down distal L1f through both proximal L1 loops with L5 (fig. 52c - step A).
5. Hook up proximal L1n through both distal L1 loops with an
Index Twist (fig. 52c - step B). Release all L1 loops. 6. There is now a diamond composed of doubled strings at the left side of the figure. Proximally insert L1 into L2 loop, then pass it back toward you through the diamond, then to the right and proximally through R1 loop and then proximally into R2 loop. Pick up R2n with 1 and return carefully to position through all loops (fig. 52d).
8. Release L1 loop, then carefully rotate R2 loop one full turn clockwise (looking at the right palm) and hold it in the RH. Apply tension between the hands. This is The Brown Bear Cub, (fig. 52f).
10. Again drop RH loop, and with RH draw out upper TV string, taking hold of it just to the left of the rightmost loop which crosses it (fig. 52g). This makes The Young Beaver, (fig. 52h).
11. Repeat step 9 (fig. 52h). This makes The Young Man, (fig. 62i).
12. Repeat step 9. This makes The Man's Rope, (fig. 52j). Notes: A slippery string works best with this figure. Steps 1 to 5 are almost
the same as steps 1 to 5 of Gordon's Wolverine; the only
difference is in Step 3 where L2 loop is transferred distally instead of proximally to
L1.)
