The Little Finger - Method 1 1. Loop on 2 only. Close 345 fingers over both 2 strings. Exchange 2 loops, passing one loop through the other (right loop through left loop in these figures). 2. Insert 1 distally down into 2 loop then distally up into 345 loop; return with near 345 strings on the back of 1 (fig. 18a - step A); release 2 loop (fig. 18a - step B).
3. Bend 2 down distally into 1 loop and raise 2 back to position, hooking up on the side of 2 the two strings which loop around the palmar strings on each side (fig. 18b - step A). Release 1 loop (fig. 18b - step B) and 345 loop, leaving loops only hanging from 2 .
4. Proximally insert 345 fingers into 2 loop and close them over 2n strings (fig. 18c). You have Little Finger (fig. 18d).
Notes: The name comes from a game that can be played with the figure. A second person places their little finger through the triangle in the center of the figure. The first person pulls the triangle tight trapping the finger. Examine the spot where strings cross in the center of the figure and locate the two outer strings. The second person releases the little finger by passing it between the two strings on the outer string side, bending it upward, and slipping it out.
