Two Ptarmigan
(Barrow and Indian Point)

1.  Position 1 on LH only.

2.  Grasp L5f in RH, pass it across the palmar side of L45, and between L3 and L4 (fig. 151a).

3.  Wind the string clockwise (viewed looking down on the finger tips) around L45 then draw it behind L4 and back to the palmar side between L4 and L5 (fig. 151b).

4.  Pinch L4 and L5 together. Reach between L3 and L4 and lift the two strings over and across the tips of L45 and release them. Don't allow the strings between L4 and L5 to slip out (fig. 151c).

5.  Grasp the far string of the long hanging loop and, leaving about 8 inches to form a hanging loop, pass it across the palm, then between L1 and L2, and around L1 to the front. Place the new L1 loop proximal to the original L1 loop (fig. 151d). Grasp the original L1n string and lift off of L1. Leaving some slack, draw it between L4 and L5 from the palmar side (fig. 151e) and repeat the procedure of steps 2 to 4.

6.  Navajo the two lower loops on the back of L5 over the two upper loops (fig. 151f).

7.  Grasp the L1 loop in the RH. Remove it, give it a half-twist (the near string over the far string) and replace it on L1 (fig. 151g). Pass L1f from the palmar side between L4 and L5 (fig. 151h). Navajo the two lower original loops on the back if L5 over the new string (fig. 151i).

8.  R5 proximally picks up L5f on the right side of the first two crossing loops. R1 proximally picks up L1n on the right side of the first single crossing loop (fig. 151j). Extend carefully to form The Ptarmigan (fig. 151k). Some adjustment may be required.
